Justice minister Lord Faulks yesterday defended the imminent court fee increases by stressing to peers that litigation is “very much an optional activity”, and suggesting that solicitors should help their clients by advancing them the money.

CJC and Bar Council condemn plans for second wave of court fee rises

The Civil Justice Council (CJC) and Bar Council have condemned government plans for a second wave of court fee rises. The CJC said the latest plans would have a “particularly adverse effect on lower value claimants”.
