The overall team winners – Team Anderson

On Friday 11 of September Kain Knight held their 10th annual golf day at The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club. Around 60 players turned up in the beaming sun, many extremely eager to tee off for a fantastic day of golf in the hope to get their hands on the coveted team and individual winning prizes.

Having so many teams playing, everyone knew each of their rounds were going to take a little longer than usual, but thankfully we had Chantelle driving around the course handing out refreshments from her golf buggy.

Most teams had concluded their round by mid-afternoon and returned to the nineteenth hole to further enjoy the sun, a few drinks and some golfing stories (one of our attendees, who shall remain nameless, had enjoyed their first ever round….much to the mild amusement of many). Some of our guests were trying to get an idea of how they were placed whilst eagerly waiting the totalling of scorecards and the awarding of points.

Prizes were announced after a brief address and a few ‘jokes’ from our Chairman, Michael Kain. First up was the ‘Nearest the Pin’ prize which was played on the tricky fifteenth hole having to play to a green surrounded by water, this awarded to Simon Rowley (Smith Partnership).

The next prize was for the ‘longest drive’ which was given to Ken Arnold (Crystal Litigation Funding) at the ninth hole with a spectacular drive that almost made the green. It was now time for the main prizes and the individual winner from the day which went to Tom Curtin (Gateley Plc) gaining an impressive 42 points.

The overall team winners, with an incredible score of 87 points was taken home by Team Anderson consisting of Keith Sharman (Temple Garden), Karim Mohamed (Mayo Wynn Baxter), Dominic Graham (Holmes & Hill) and lastly team captain Rob Anderson (Kain Knight).

Many assumed that prizes were limited to winner. However this was not the case as there was the surprise addition of ‘booby prizes’ much to the amusement of many. First up was the individual prize for the worst score, scooped up by Peter Scalding (Hodge Jones & Allen) scoring just 6 points.

The team effort of the day was awarded to Team Hughes scoring a meagre 52 points. We really shouldn’t be naming and shaming but for reference: the team consisted of Shaman Kapoor (Temple Garden Chambers), Peter Morgan (Temple Legal Protection) and the team captain David Hughes (Kain Knight).

Kain Knight would like to thank everyone who attended and were involved in yet another successful and very enjoyable golf day. A huge thank you to The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club for the hospitality once again and to each team for making the day another great success.
