High Court: Litigation funding documents protected by legal advice privilege
Thursday, 7 December 2017The High Court has ruled that a set of litigation funding documents were protected by privilege because they inferred the substantive legal advice that had been given in the underlying dispute. The court also said that it was “not part of our law as to disclosure that every conceivable stone must be turned over”.

Burford in ground-breaking £30m litigation financing deal with FTSE 20 firm
Wednesday, 6 January 2016Litigation funder Burford Capital has agreed to provide over £30m in litigation financing for a FTSE 20 company, in the first publicly announced deal of its kind. Burford said the deal addressed the need of “companies of all sizes” to avoid paying lawyers by the hour.

Burford’s profits rise by 43%
Thursday, 19 March 2015Burford Capital, the world’s largest litigation funder, increased operating profits by 43% to $60.7m in 2014. Announcing its financial results for the last calendar year, Burford said income for the year increased by 35% to $82.7m.
