Shorter trials scheme case keeps costs under control
Tuesday, 11 July 2017A contractual dispute between an oil trader and a biofuels manufacturer has shown the “possibilities for swift and litigation” under the High Court’s shorter trials scheme. The scheme sees the case managed by a docketed judge with a trial date fixed for not more than eight months after the case management conference and judgment within six weeks.

High Court approves first application to transfer case to shorter trials scheme
Tuesday, 23 February 2016The High Court has approved the first application to transfer a case started in the normal way into the shorter trials scheme. Under the scheme, cases are managed by a docketed judge, with trials limited to four days and summary costs instead of costs budgeting.
